RACHEL THOMPSON, TREASURER & PROJECT GUIDE: At-Risk Youth Fiction Workshop

Rachel is a writer and educator living in Portsmouth, VA. She holds a BA in Spanish Philology from St. Louis University in Madrid, Spain, and an MFA in Fiction from Vermont College of Fine Arts. By day, she teaches Spanish to high schoolers in the International Baccalaureate Program, and by night she works on her novel or looks for snails with her toddler. 

 

LINDA CAROL COBB, BOARD MEMBER & PROJECT GUIDE: Grammar for Adults

Linda Carol Cobb, a retired high school teacher with an MA in communications, sponsored an award-winning newsmagazine, coached forensics and taught journalism, advanced composition, theatre and public speaking, along with other electives for 37 years. In retirement, she copyedits, teaches seminars and coaches public speaking. She has taught sessions in public speaking, oral reading, grammar or punctuation for a number of venues, including the Norfolk jail. Her creative nonfiction stories have been published in five anthologies and two online journals.

CATHERINE FLETCHER, BOARD MEMBER Catherine Fletcher is a writer based in Norfolk. Recent work has appeared in The Broadkill Review, The Inflectionist Review, New World Writing, Kissing Dynamite, and the concert series Concept Lab. Her poetry also has been featured in public art installations on the Elizabeth River Trail (VA), the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail (VA), and in Re-Imagining Conservation on Governor’s Island (NY). She has received fellowships from Arizona State University, Queens Council on the Arts, Brooklyn Arts Council, and others. She is a Virginia Commission for the Arts Fellow (2022) and a Creature Conserve Mentee (2022-23). She worked for a decade as Director of Poetry Programs at the New York-based City Lore. Prior to Catherine’s work in the poetry world, she spent four years as a theater artist in Southern California. She is pleased to serve on the Seven Cities Board.
